“I’m a HUGE fan of the Slender Man Mythos. For my birthday a while ago, I got the movies WINDIGO and Hylo. I liked them both, but I was kinda leaning towards Hylo. I watched the “Mystery Of The Mythos” featurette, and I have a few comments.
First, I like how the Operator symbol wasn’t overused in the film, like some other books I read and vlogs I’ve seen. I agree that the hand print was a little more sensible.
And second, I’ve heard a lot of bad reviews about this movie, and I thing you guys did a really good job. People tell me that your version of the Slender Man isn’t like the original tall thin dude with the tentacles that raise it in the air and the weird affect on cameras, and I like that. I tell them, “Exactly. It’s different.”
And finally, I especially like the music. The violin and piano make it soothing and creepy at the same time.
Anyway, I think you and your crew did an incredible job on Hylo, despite what others say. I’ll be watching it until it won’t play on my DVD player anymore.”—A very nice e-mail that we received.
When Hylo came in the mail I decided I'd have a movie night with some Slendyfriends. They all loved it! And I've found myself watching it again and again. You did a great job with it! I'd like to see you make more movies like this.
And I have to say, I loved the movie! It was pretty scary, I have to say, the ending was okay, but it could have been better, I think it’s safe to say that I will show this movie to all my friends and leave hand prints on their bedroom windows just to scare the holy crap out of them!
I have been streaming, and I am halfway through. I thoroughly enjoy the movie and I will be purchasing! I do have one question though, do the feet symbolize anything? It always shows her feet while she is walking, when she gets hurt, and it shows her footprints a few times. Am I reading too much into it, or was it an intentional theme?
hopefully pausing doesn’t mess up the pacing of the film, and I’m glad you like it so far. Yes actually, following the feet, photographs of feet, Franks loud foosteps, Icecream on shoes, shoes, footprints, getting cut on the foot, and eventually the opposite of feet (wheelchair/elevator), are a major theme of the piece. On the shallowest, most basic level, feet used to really disgust me. For some reason I couldn’t stand being near them or having them touch me, which translated into the film.
On a more developed aesthetic, feet show action. Movement, development, racing, running, etc. Although this is a purposely paced ”slow-burner” the feet are used to remind us about the race against time. That the action must continue and be constant or the characters won’t achieve any of their personal goals.
I just wanted to tell you guys that I loved the movie! Been waiting a good long while for it and I was very pleased with how you guys represented the myth. LOVED the hand print addition, really fit well. I also enjoyed how you stuck to the original myth with impalement on a tree. Overall just a great production, I plan on buying one even though I already watched it, well worth my money.
Thank you for your support. Glad to hear you liked those aspects of the film!
It wouldn’t be a proper release without out some TD right?
